Ask Alexandra – July 2011
Question #1:
Dear Alexandra,
I’m writing from Hungary, so I’m sorry if I’m not writing perfectly.
I loved you on Baywatch. Stephanie was one of my favourite character. The other was Newmie. I was very sad when left the series. I would like to ask what was the working with the real lifeguard, Michael Newman? Do you still keep contact with him? I’d like to write to him but unfortunately I didn’t find any address. I’m sorry that I ask this but would you be able to help me with this?
And an other question: Do you have a favourite actor or actress? And favourite film?
Thanks and I wish the best you and your family!
Renata from Hungary
Hi Renata, I saw MIchael Newman just last month! You can see the video I shot and the fun we had together, along with David Chokachi and Kelly Packard from Baywatch, here. I spoke with Michael and said that you can write to him on facebook – do you have that in Hungary? Go to www.facebook.com and find him under Michael Anthony Newman. There is a tab which allows you to send a message to him. My favorite actors are Sean Penn and Ryan Gosling. I have many favorite films and some of them are listed on this site. Recently, I saw a film by Michael Winterbottom called 9 Songs combined which I found to be very authentic and original. Thank you for writing! Alexandra |
Question #2:
From australia — trying to find out some information on movie christmas crash. Was it ever released on dvd? Seems to have been withdrawn. Any help would be appreciated. john n
Hi John,
Hmmm, Christmas Crash aired for sure in the United States, Canada and France and is out on dvd now. If you do a search, you can find purchase it online. The producers did not do a very good job publicizing it, as I didn’t find a trailer, but here is the opening sequence. I also have a scene from it on my 2010 demo reel (second scene). Michael Madsen was fun to work with, and I enjoyed filming in Vancouver. I am sorry I cannot be of more help. Thank you for writing. Alexandra |
Question #3:
Alexandra,
It has been almost four and a half years since I lost my dear friend Leah due to a heart attack while in recovery for her eating disorder. She wrote to you a couple of times (Nov. ’05 and Feb. ’06) and always kept your responses in her journal. I have her journal now, and came across those responses today.
Those notes lifted Leah up just enough to help her recover, and in turn, she helped me beat my almost 20 year battle with anorexia and exercise addiction. I have been eating disorder free for 3 years, and I owe so much of that recovery to her, and so, also to you.
Thank you for giving her the encouragement she needed to stay the course just long enough to share that encouragement with me. I hope you keep sharing your story. It really does help so many people.
Forever grateful,
Julie
Hi Julie, I remember Leah’s letters to me very well: Congratulations on your recovery! That is wonderful. I am proud to say that next month it will be 20 years since I was bulimic, thanks to Overeaters Anonymous, years and years of therapy, and the support of my family. I meet so many women have dealt with eating disorders, so I know there is light at the end of the tunnel for anyone if they are willing to make the effort to get better. If I can stop, anyone can! Thank you for staying in touch. Please let us know how you are doing as the years go by. Best, Alexandra |
