My Latest Speaking Engagement
I spoke on the human overpopulation crisis at my friend Steve Glenn’s monthly salon, which he has named FRED talk. He hosts the evening at his spectacular Santa Monica, California home, which is the first platinum LEED residence in the world.
Each speaker talks for only 5 minutes (Steve is very strict, so I practiced hard to come in under time – the chime you hear is at the 4 minute mark to warn speakers the end is nigh). There is a 5 minute Q & A also.

Great video talk!! I agree with all you said in it as it is something we do need to get under control. We’re going through our worlds limited resources so fast that if our population continues to grow at the rate it is we’ll be out of resources and out of space!!

First off before I begin. The video I will post below please be warned it is a hard difficult video to watch. majority of the people who have commented on these videos are in disbelief this is happening but it is in fact happening. So please be aware this is a very difficult video to watch!!
Wanted to add this also to the discussion. I shared with with Alexandra few years ago in the Ask Alexandra section after reading this article on the Huffington post about her and Ian’s choice regarding any children they might have together due to the population issue

Well I shared the below video with her in the question I asked April 2010 Letter 3). Because of my work for Tibet I watch a lot of Tibet and China related videos and this one has always pulled at me. Mind you I agree with Alexandra fully that we have to do something but we also have to be careful about how we go about doing it. China in my own view is a country that is doing this the wrong way. They have the one child policy which has caused many issues for families and such leading to abortions, abandonment’s and over flowing orphanages full of unwanted girls being the way the family name is carried forward by the male child of the family. So a lot of times if the woman gets pregnant a second time and they know if to be a boy they might very well abandon the first child (female) in order to legally have a male child to carry on the family name.
So we have to be careful about doing this because in China there is going to be issues that at some point they will have to face such as an off balancing of the genders, too many men vs to few women which will lead to other issues like increased rape, trafficking of females which in some ways is already started as I have seen videos of wife’s being kidnapped and forced to marry other men to sex crimes such as an increase in prostitution which already is occurring.

So we have to be careful about how we implement laws and such to limit our growth so as not to continue to do hard to our fragile environment and world!!
